babywearing

This is really not a crafty thing, but it seems like a good place to keep my babywearing wish list. I posted a list back in November, but it really needs to be updated, so I decided to re-do it. Some things have been added, while others need to be taken away. Hence, a new post! Please don't mind me if you're not into wraps and such. :)

Wraps I currently own: KoKaDi Diorite Stars in a size 4 (front ruck!), Girasol Mr. X in a size 7 (I'm considering having it converted but can't decide because I'm so in love), and a Milky Way Blue Sky ring sling converted by Sleeping Baby Productions.

BBSlen: Not a must-have, but a nice-to-have-available. I'm not absolutely in love, but they do have some lovely colors. For example: BBSlen Blueberry. I would love to have this in a ring sling! My first wrap ever was BBSlen Papaya (pictured at left, with the cutest little baby model in the world), so the line shall always have a soft spot in this mama's heart.

C&C Miel et Malice: This wrap is an absolute workhorse! We had it in turquoise (pictured at right, also with the cutest baby model in the world), and it was soft, strong, and warm. We only used it in winter, so I didn't have a chance to check out the summer breathability  but I would love to add one back to my collection.

Earthy Bliss Mermaid Cove: I think I want the teal weft, but really, it's so hard to decide. All I know is that I must have this. Must.

Easycare No. 1: I love this with the orange weft!

Girasol Anemone with cream weft: Ooh, the pretty, soft colors!

Girasol Chococabana: I mean really, could this be any lovelier?

Girasol Mr. X: I totally own this now! I could not be more in love if I tried. I'm seriously considering converting it to a ring tai, but it's still very lovely on its own.

Girasol Natural Mamas: Go look at the pictures and you'll understand for yourself.

Girasol Wrapper's Paradise: Wouldn't this be lovely as a ring sling? Or a wrap. Or anything, really.

Natibaby Blue Danube: Blue. Stripes. Need I say more?

Natibaby Milky Way: I'm totally in love with this wrap, in two or three of the different colorways, but it's ridiculously hard to find. Sigh. Why must I love the hard to find wraps?

Oscha Irish Linen with color gradation: These colors are absolutely gorgeous. Check out Amelia. And while you're at it, look at Blue Lagoon. Don't forget Blush, Charcoal, Heather Mist, and Indigo Violet!

Oscha Okinami Skye, Harris, or Kai
Zara Sun
FHI
BBSlen Turkish Delight
Ellevill Jade Fog
Zara Fresh
Natibaby Sternenzauber
Amber twilight starmap from Firespiral
Storchenwiege Vicki
Natibaby Alma Mater
Hopp Miami

Gira Tenango (?)
Didy The Mistress Rosalinda
Didy Flamingo
Easycare Ocean
Vatanai Whales (blue indigo?)

So what do you think of my wish list? It grows and shrinks and changes with the seasons and my mood, but that's okay. It's part of the nature of being human, I think.

Christmas decorations

I've started making Christmas ball ornaments. Not the balls themselves, but beaded decorations to go over them. I sort of got the idea from another page, but have changed it up and made it my own. Here are some pics:

wish list

This is really not a crafty thing, but it seems like a good place to keep my babywearing wish list. So don't mind me if you're not into wraps and such. :)

Kokadi Waldvogel

Kokadi Stars (multiple colors shown)

Any Kokadi you can think of, really - I haven't seen many that I don't like.

Girasol Chococobana

Easycare No. 1 with Orange Weft - does anyone have a picture I could put up? I'm having trouble finding one.

Girasol Natural Mamas

BBSlen Pink Pepper
BBSlen

Okay, so maybe I like more than just the pink pepper. But they're so pretty! My first woven was a BBSlen Papaya (which I still have), so I'm a bit fond of them. Memories, first wrap, yada yada. And frankly, they're soft. Really soft. Nice and cozy. Good for covering the baby in the carseat when you forget a blanket, too.

Oscha Irish Linen with color gradation. I haven't decided on a color yet, but I'm thinking it would be good for the next squish.

Earthy Bliss Mermaid Cove teal weft
Girasol Mr X

Fantastic update! Hubby is buying me a KoKaDi Diorite Stars for Christmas. Woot! I absolutely could not be happier. I'm so excited I'm pretty sure the neighbors heard me!

Nati Indigo Milky Way
C&C Miel et Malice Turquoise ... I just sold mine and I'm already mourning the loss, even though we never used it because it was too short for us. So at some point I need to get this back in a better size.

Nati Ecru Grad

Leander Silk Waves

Aquamarine Fish

Turquoise Wool Dandies

Azure Old Standard

Cornflower (what wrap is this? Does anyone know?)

Vatanai Wrappers Paradise

Dydimos Iris

pin cushion 2.0

I changed my mind and made a different pin cushion. The shape reminds me of my childhood, but the colors are in my favorites, so it's a win all around. The tutorial was from Tammy's Times, but again, it was really simple. Enjoy!

pin cushion

Gosh, you know you're tired when you have trouble typing "pin cushion", right?

So then. My pin cushion was made using the tutorial from Sew Craftalicious. I know it's a very simple idea, but I was searching the 'net for inspiration and stumbled upon this little cutie, and I just couldn't pass it up! And somehow it just didn't seem fair to post my finished product without linking to the original tutorial, y'know? Mine isn't stuffed yet since I don't have any stuffing, but it's still adorable. Check 'em out!

pillowcases

Pillowcases! They're so simple to make, but can have such a huge impact on my mood. I started to make some tonight, but alas, the little bitty decided he'd rather nurse than have mama sew.

Even so, I decided to share the link now instead of waiting until I'm finished. I'm using the Pretty Quick Pillowcase Tutorial from FITF. The only change I've made is to make the main body of my pillowcases 30" instead of 26", simply because I have some larger pillows.

Here are her pillowcases:

Picture of mine should follow tomorrow. Or maybe the next day ... but soon!

11/13/12 update: Wow, it's taken me a bit longer to get back to these than I thought it would. Soon! They should be done soon! Soon, right?

11/17/12 update: They're finally done! Okay, so just one is done. But I love it. There are, however, some technical difficulties with getting my machine to sew well thru so many layers, so I'm going to think on a good solution before making the next. And for the record, I didn't realize until I was halfway thru my sewing how much my colors lined up with the original tutorial. It kind of made me laugh when I noticed! The colors are a bit brighter in real life, but they're not too far off in the photo. Sorry for the icky brown background - I do my ironing on an old towel!

Introduction

I enjoy crafting. Many of my projects are inspired by posts and patterns I find on other blogs. This is a place to gather my thoughts, give credit where credit is due, and remember where to find patterns for a second round. If you can find some inspiration of your own here, so much the better!
